In a surprise, Morning Musume ’18 released a new promotional video for their song “Y ji-ji no tochuu”. Consisting of the girls performing their new song on a live stage set, you’d be hard pressed not to link this song with the graduation of sub-leader Iikubo Haruna. The fork in the road most definitely refers to that moment after graduation where anything is possible. Even though Hello! Project PVs come standard with subtitles and translations, “Y ji-ji no tochuu” goes the extra mile with a few onscreen lyrics. Back to Haruna, the Honey colored member gets her moment at the center of the formation as well as some hefty solo lines during a bridge melody dedicated to her. Followers of the group will also recognize the moment when each of the members of Morning Musume ’18 line up to give Haruna a brief hand touch as reminiscent of the graduation rituals of the group. I guess we can now answer the question about what Iikubo Haruna’s graduation song will be. “Jiyu na kuni dakara” is from Morning Musume ’18 ‘s 66th single release “Furari Ginza / Jiyu na Kuni dakara”, out on October 24, 2018.
