Well, Momoiro Clover Z have been having a pretty decent week on the album charts. Hopefully they’ll be getting even more recognition now that they’ve managed to shift a couple hundred thousand of their new album. All that is in the past though, let’s take a look at what’s coming out this week.
LinQ – “Chime ga Owareba“

First up this week we have LinQ with their major label debut single “Chime ga Owareba”. I’ve always been pretty off and on in my relationship with LinQ and this offering isn’t really doing it for me either. It just feels so bland and generic, which I suppose is a reasonable line to take when you’re making a major debut but I know they can do so much better than this. That’s not even to say that the song is bad, because it isn’t. It’s just really forgettable and that’s unfortunate because their last single “Chiku-Taku / Going my Way!” was so good. Maybe next time I guess.
Morning Musume – “Brainstorming / Kimi Sae Ireba Nani mo Iranai“

This week’s other featured release is from Morning Musume. You’ve probably already made your mind up on this one by now and I’m pretty sure I’ve also said my bit too. For those of you just joining us, I’m really liking Morning Musume’s electro-pop direction and this single sees them continue that. Your enjoyment of this one hinges on your stance on their current musical stylings. You’ll either really love this one or you’ll probably hate it because it’s too similar to their last few singles. Still, they could have picked a worse single for Tanaka Reina’s graduation I suppose. Not that you’d really know that she’s graduating or anything.
ALSO THIS WEEK:
Not much coming out this week again which is a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. I’m personally interested in the new Morning Musume single because that’s my kind of thing. LinQ isn’t something I feel good about recommending so it’s your call on that one. I could have talked about Predia but it’s hard to really say much about an idol group trying to do K-Pop that hasn’t already been said a million times before.
